Learn more about our feature: BIAS Indicator

Add BIAS measurement to your tool with this feature. Calculating BIAS in demand planning is essential to understand how forecasts deviate from actual demand. While SMAPE (Symmetric Mean Absolute Percentage Error) and DFA (Damped Trend Forecasting Accuracy) are also accuracy metrics available in the platform, BIAS specifically focuses on the overall tendency of a forecast to overestimate or underestimate demand. Unlike SMAPE, which evaluates relative error regardless of the direction of the variance, BIAS provides valuable insight into the consistency and direction of forecast bias.

Combining BIAS with SMAPE when evaluating forecast accuracy provides a more complete view of forecasting performance. This enables demand planners to understand not only the absolute level of error, but also the direction and consistency of deviations, making it easier to identify improvement opportunities in the planning process.
